In the inbox on Tuesday was this from the O'Malley/Brown campaign for Governor of Maryland.
" I wanted you to be one of the first to know - today, we took another giant step towards victory this fall.
The Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO just voted to endorse Martin and Anthony.
The vote was overwhelming. Two-thirds of the vote was needed for an endorsement, but Martin and Anthony received over 80%. The Maryland and DC AFL-CIO stretches from western Maryland to the Eastern Shore and represents 300,000 hard-working men and women. This is the most significant endorsement of the campaign thus far.
An endorsement of this magnitude, nine months before the election is highly unusual. Given the overwhelming vote, it is yet another sign of the strength of the O'Malley-Brown Team."
The AFL-CIO, their associated unions and members, and Democrats like Mayor O'Malley and Delegate Brown are the folks who brought us the Maryland Fair Share Health Care Fund Act (the WalMart bill), an increase in the minimum wage, and will continue to increase the involvement of government in our lives and businesses.
If you want a less intrusive, more streamlined, and lower cost government for the state of Maryland, the choice in November is clear. And voting with the 300,000 members of the local AFL-CIO chapter is not the way to get it.
